Dr Chiong Meng Soon is a sustainability expert, consultant, trainer, and researcher specialising in sustainable engineering, Carbon Footprinting, and Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). He is known for helping organisations reduce environmental footprints and achieve sustainability objectives through practical and effective solutions.
Experience
Dr Chiong is currently a Senior Lecturer and Research Fellow in the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. His expertise focuses on methodologies and technologies that reduce environmental footprints across energy, manufacturing, and end-of-life treatment sectors. He has extensive experience in Carbon Footprinting and Life Cycle Assessment for businesses and industries, offering tailored consultancy and training solutions. Dr Chiong’s expertise spans energy, manufacturing, construction, transportation, and smelting industries. He has collaborated with organisations in Malaysia and Japan on Carbon Footprint and Life Cycle Assessment projects, including the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), Malaysian Plastics Manufacturers Association, ESGright, and People Prowess. He is also a member of the advisory panel of the National Negotiating Committee (NNC) for the Third Session of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee (INC-3) on plastic pollution, led by the Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources, Malaysia.
