Dr Christopher Vas is an experienced leader across business, government, and academia with over 18 years of international experience spanning Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore. He is recognised for his expertise in innovation ecosystems, food technology, enterprise development, and strategic advisory.
Dr Vas currently leads the activation of the Western Australian Food Innovation Precinct (WAFIP) as General Manager. WAFIP is an ecosystem comprising R&D, innovation, and food technology facilities funded by the Australian Government and the State Government as part of the Peel Business Park development. The precinct is further supported by the WA State Government and the Shire of Murray through the establishment of an Enterprise Support Program. He also leads the Shire’s X-Protein Lab program funded by the Australian Government’s Entrepreneur Program and serves as Principal Consultant to FutureSafe Technologies, an edtech startup focused on digitising safety training using mobile-based and virtual reality technologies. Previously, Dr Vas served as Director of Industry Programs at the University of Canterbury and Founding Director of the Singapore Centre for Research in Productivity, Innovation and Technology (SCRIPT) in Singapore. He was also the Chief Investigator of the Smart Urban Farm Factories project and served as Commissioner and Executive Director of the Second Murdoch Commission on Food Security, Trade and Regional Partnerships. Dr Vas is currently a Board Director and Advisor to three organisations in Australia, including private and not-for-profit entities. He is a qualified Company Director in Australia and New Zealand.
